  2. Get drunk and/or hopped up on sour apples, preferably both.
  3. Scroll down and stare at the pictures one by one until they begin to speak to you.
  4. Write down everything you hear. (In pig latin, of course.)
  5. Throw out all that shit crap crud muck incredibly fertile free-writing.
  6. Sober the heck up.
  7. Put on another feather boa.
  8. Make a postal poem using one of the images below according to the directions on our about page.
  9. Send it to us at postalpoetry (at) gmail (dot) com, or to:
  10. Postal Poetry
    11410 NE 124th St. #459
    Kirkland WA 98034-4305

(Please put “Postal Poetry Contest #2″ in the subject/address line.)

Submissions must be received electronically or postmarked no later than Dec. 15, 2008. Submit early and often. You can use different images when submitting more than one piece, or you can use the same image with different text. Or you can do a little of both.

How will the winners be chosen? If you enter this contest, you are a winner! However, be advised that: a) We will not be handing out prizes because we have no money, and b) We will only publish contest entries that we like. (We may publish more than one take on the same image.)

All artwork for this month’s contest is by Mikey G Ottawa, whose work is shared under a Creative Commons license at Flickr. (Click on his name to be taken to his Flickr page.) Click through on any of the images to find them for download on his Flickr site. Mikey has generously allowed those participating in Postal Poetry to use his work for our contest.

We have cropped all these images so they are the size of a typical postcard. You are free to crop them however you would like when you create your contest entries, as long as the finished piece falls within our size requirements as detailed on our about page.

To download the image(s) you want to work with, click on the image, select “all sizes” and then download the original size to your computer.

Yipee!
